BELGRADE  SAXPERIENCE

The First International Saxophone Festival in Serbia “Belgrade Saxperience” will be held from 10th to 12th of October 2014 in Belgrade, on the occasion of 200th anniversary  of the  birth  of Adolphe Sax, Belgian inventor and innovator of musical instruments, who patented the first saxophone in mid-19th century in Paris.

Prominent saxophone players from France, Belgium, Croatia and Serbia will perform at the festival:  Claude Delangle (France), Milan Savić (Serbia), Gordan Tudor (Croatia), Anemos saxophone quartet  (Belgium), Novi Sad saxophone quartet  (Serbia), Luka Ignjatović (Serbia), Bunford Gabor (Serbia) and Serbian Radio and Television Symphonic Orchestra.

Presentation of classical saxophone to a broader audience was envisaged through three concerts in two concert nights. The first night is premiere performance of the concerto for alto saxophone and string orchestra, and concert with symphonic orchestra in the Kolarac Foundation Grand Hall, and on the second night solo recital saxophone with electronics followed by saxophone quartet in Cvijeta Zuzorić Pavilion.

After the classical concerts, some of our most prominent jazz saxophonist will perform within “Concerts in Cafe” program, in Cultural Centre of Belgrade at Republic Square.

Afternoon concert for kids – “Meet Mr. Saxophone” is planned for Sunday, the third festival day, at the plateau in front of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade.

In addition to their performances, the musicians will partake in educational segment of the festival in Gallery Artget and at the Faculty of Music, that will provide active involvement for our saxophone pupils, students and professors, and passive participation for other interested visitors.

The Festival will be an opportunity for saxophonists, composers and other musicians to get together and learn something new about saxophone, to exchange experiences and make contact with prominent musicians from the region and abroad.

The Festival is organized by Serbian Saxophone Society and Cultural Centre of Belgrade. Festival is supported by Serbian Ministry of Culture and Information, City of Belgrade Secretariat for Culture, Institut francais de Serbie,  Societe Generale Serbia and Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium.
