Daniela Fulgosi’s exhibition “Lines of Time” includes ten cycles of works that emerged in the period of two decades, realized by combining several techniques on paper, collage, graphics and drawing. The impetus for the development of these works are the conditions that result from everyday events, accumulations of impressions that stem from exposure to enormous number of visual sensations. With drawing, print, as well as applying and collaging different elements of non-painting origin, Daniela Fulgosi deliberately builds a conception through which she implies a critical relationship towards certain aspects of the public sphere, by which she wishes to bring about a deeper consideration and understanding of certain phenomena. By placing in interaction, or by confronting various signs emerged from the huge register of civilization, history, history of art, culture, this artist develops new systems here and constructs new symbolic wholes.
In the cycle of works dominated by regular geometrized networks, filled with endless, thickly intertwined details, Daniela Fulgosi builds micro spaces that become a metaphor of the mechanisms on whose foundations a society functions. Clearly articulated forms, set on a solid base, are a limiting and restricting factor for clips from a broader spatial, temporal and cultural context. In this sense, her collages function successfully in pointing out general social procedures, but also sociological dilemmas of individuals.
Daniela Fulgosi was born in in Zemun in 1967. Graduated from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 1991, where she also finished her postgraduated studies in 1995. A member of ULUS (Artists’ Association of Serbia) since 1992. She works as a professor at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. She had 21 solo exhibitions and exhibited at more than 200 collective exhibitions since 1990.
