Sisters Ivana and Svetlana Stevančević are Belgrade-based fashion designers. They have been present at contemporary fashion scene since 2000. In 2006 Stevančević sisters started their own fashion label named SestreS. Their creative process is pretty much based on handwork and can’t be multiplied. Fashion pieces are unique, and often designed for one particular person. In 2009 they lunched a fashion line titled as “SestreS for every day”, that includes a small series of clothes enriched with handwork elements and interventions.
Besides few collections and fashion shows, Stevančević sisters gained experience in the fashion industry by working as a fashion editors of a male magazine and stylist in a design magazine. With the same enthusiasm they do styling and costumes for CD covers, music videos and brand promotions, but also wedding dresses and various sexy outfits.
NYC-based fashion editor and stylist Ruška Bergman once wrote:
Stevančević sisters really excited me. They showed fashion is something individual, which needs to be marked with personal stamp. Their style was so powerful that bought them “Kent Explora” award for innovation. Fashion is not a matter of trend, but diversity and individuality and Jelena and Ivana proved that. World wide success doesn’t stand imitation, it demands originality.
