Shifted, Filip Xavi and Regen in a very special Drug§tore episode.

▀ Shifted is a producer with many faces. In just a few years since his first release on Luke Slater’s Mote-Evolver imprint, the UK artist successfully managed to develop his own distinctive voice within the constantly evolving techno genre. Soon after his 2011 debut he set up the Avian imprint together with fellow UK producer Ventress – an outlet bringing focus to a more stripped back and textured side of British techno. Releases on Sigha’s Our Circula Sound imprint and the Frozen Border sub-label Naked Index soon followed, as well as a one-off self-released EP for his more dance floor focused project Pacific Blue.

2012 saw Shifted not only making his move from the UK to Berlin, but also releasing his extremely well received debut LP on Mote-Evolver: “A stunning debut album in Crossed Paths, which shows Shifted making the final move from newcomer soundalike towards a respected name with a fierce sensibility for unique sound design.” (Resident Advisor)
In addition he set up the Avian sub-label Mira to explore the more esoteric and experimental side of techno, drone, noise and industrial. Taking this turn in his own productions as well, he started the Covered in Sand project, which debuted on Mira in 2013 and was included in FACT magazine’s greatest 10’’ records of all time.
The same year saw him unveil two further projects: a low-key LP for Kiran Sande’s Blackest Ever Black label under the alias Alexander Lewis, stated by Juno Download as “…one of the most striking debuts in the field of industrial electronics we’ve heard in some time“, and a collaboration with Sigha as A Model Authority. As the year drew to a close, there followed the announcement of the acclaimed new Shifted LP ‘Under A Single Banner’ on Vatican Shadow’s Bed Of Nails imprint – a sub-label for the highly influential Hospital Productions. The album was described by The Quietus as “a highly literate and highly listenable full-length, where the sources of inspiration – whether obvious or not – have been synthesised into a whole greater than the sum of its parts.“

2014 sees Shifted continuing to develop these many strands of his musical output, while the multiple labels under his stewardship continue to give an outlet to talent from across the duskier side of the electronic music spectrum.

▀ Filip Xavi made his initial breakthrough as a member of Belgrade’s Concrete DJz collective, of which he was member since the group’s conception in 2003, until 2011. Since then his solo productions were published on labels such as: Dynamic Reflection, Trust Recordings, Subsequent Rec and Panel Trax. Predicting the wave of dark onerous techno that was about to hit the clubs in Europe, Filip started Teskoba Recordings in 2008, conceived as a platform for the techno sound of the future. His first solo EP “Inline Agents” for a renowned Spanish label Subsist Records was released in early 2013. Half a year later he released the follow-up EP for Sonntag Morgen records. The releases got a great reception among the current players in the techno scene gaining support from the likes of: Dimi Angélis, Jeroen Search, DVS1, Pfirter, Electric Indigo, Dave Clarke, ROD, Kriz, Adriana Lopez, Dasha Rush, Jonas Kopp, Tommy Four Seven and many more.

▀ Miloš Pavlović AKA Regen started his dj career when he was sixteen. At the very beginning, first came the residency of a famous Belgrade underground club Omen, where he played Thursdays. In 1998, after his first appearance in highly regarded club Industria in Belgrade, he joined an organization TTP and gained a weekly residency. At that time, he drew attention with his mixing techniques and skills, using three decks for mixture of house and techno. In 2006, his debut track called “Fluctual” appeared on a compilation “Belgrade Coffee Shop – Area 6″, meanwhile his break-through in to the international music publishing was marked with releases of “Trapizator Ep” in 2007 and “Transistor Ep” in 2008 for the Frankfurt label Momentum. Regen is focused more on a dubbier side of both house and techno genres, with a retrospect approach of an early ‘90s techno. His first track “Duege”, under his Regen alias, appeared on a compilation “Sometimes You Don’t Need Any Words” on Munich based label Ilian Tape in 2008.
