First things first – do not expect anything. If you do this, you will be disappointed. You’ll probably go home depressed because once again Hollywood has ruined one the most brilliant novels ever written. You might as well avoid watching trailer, and basically read anything about the movie, cast and the way this movie was shot. If you go completely unprepared, you’ll have a great time. And that’s exactly what Joe Wright’s newest movie “Anna Karenina” represents – fun time in cinema.

You have to love Joe, he’s the one who gave us “Pride and Prejudice” and “Atonement”, and now the newest version of one of the most tragic heroines, lovely Anna Karenina. You will need probably at least 15 minutes to get used to the fact that you’re not actually watching a movie, but a brilliantly shot play. Naturally, the acting is set for a play as well, at least I hope because that’s the only explanation I have. Visually, it’s one of the most beautiful films ever. Everything from scenography to costumes is breath-taking. There were moments when I thought I would burst to tears from all the aesthetics.

When I saw who was cast, I thought of it as a joke. In novel, Anna looks nothing like beautiful, but anorexic, flat-chested Keira Knightley , and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is nowhere near black-haired Vronsky. On top of it all, one does not simply choose Jude Law to play a guy whom you’re supposed to hate. Now, I am pleased to say that once again I was proved wrong. They were all quite brilliant in their roles and not just them, but all of the actors and actresses.

Probably the best thing about this movie is the fact that all of the crucial characters as well ‘’episodes’’ from the actual novel are there. The story flows nicely pointing out the most important moments both visually and musically. But then again, I have to admit that the very end of the movie is not at all tragic as it’s supposed to be. They failed to present the tragedy of her last doubts, courage, strength, remorse, therefore ladies you don’t need to worry about carrying tissues to the cinema. You’ll be quite safe.

A novi film Džoa Rajta ’’Ana Karenjina’’ upravo to i predstavlja – dobro utrošen novac u bioskopu.
