Besides six exhibitions, we can also expect engaging lectures, seminars, and panel discussions, along with the traditional BINA walk and architectural excursion to Novi Sad.
The nineteenth edition of the Belgrade International Architecture Week – BINA 2024 will take place from May 30th to June 29th, 2024, organized by the Association of Belgrade Architects and the Belgrade Cultural Center.

The central theme of this year’s event is titled “Echoes of Modernism,” exploring the relationship between contemporary architecture and modernism, lessons learned, and exchanges of design experiences in the fields of urbanism, architecture, and design. It will focus on realized projects such as the Sava Center and BIGZ, which are part of Belgrade’s cultural heritage from the modernist movement.
BINA’s program this year will pay special attention to the modernist period of architect and professor Milan Zloković (1898-1965), who, alongside Nikola Dobrović, is one of the most significant architects of modern architecture in our country. The nineteenth BINA will commence on May 30th at 7 p.m. at the Likovna galerija Kulturnog centra Beograda with the exhibition “Vila Prendić – a new perspective, new duration,” aiming to bring closer the residential architecture of the interwar modernist movement, its restoration, and adaptation to contemporary living conditions, while preserving the values of architecture and its principles.
This exhibition dedicated to Milan Zloković’s work is organized in collaboration with the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Belgrade, Docomomo Serbia, and the Milan Zloković Foundation. It will also serve as a preview and a constitutive part of the major commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the architect’s death, scheduled for 2025 at the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU). Additionally, five more exhibitions will be featured in the program, including the International Exhibition of Contemporary Housing “HOUSING 23.”
The traditional seminar “Architects / Designers / Practitioners” will be held at the Sava Center, presenting a series of lectures for professionals aimed at exchanging ideas and information in the field of design and the use of new and innovative materials and products.
A significant part of the program includes BINA walks, featuring visits to urban villas in the Professors’ Colony, Belgrade Fair, Hotel Jugoslavija, and Palace of Serbia. The BINA excursion to Novi Sad will explore the world of realized architecture by Lazar Kuzmanov, one of the most prominent architects of the middle generation, and through the story of our railways, starting from the Prokop station in Belgrade, traveling by high-speed rail, and ending at the modernist railway station of Novi Sad from 1964.
The event will also feature a round table discussion titled “Vila Prendić – one of the few reconstructed works of Milan Zloković.” Special guest architect Wessel de Jonge from Delft University in the Netherlands will conduct a workshop on “Renewal of 20th Century Architecture” with students of the Faculty of Architecture, as well as a public lecture on this topic in collaboration with Docomomo Serbia.
