In our column Meet a local we present interesting individuals from different professional fields living in Belgrade. The idea is to get to know some locals and their favorite neighborhoods and venues in the city.

Please introduce yourself to our readers.

My name is Nadežda Dimitrijević. I was born in Belgrade, and I currently live and work between
Belgrade and Tel Aviv. I’ve been DJing for nine years and I’m also very active in the organization
of music events in Belgrade as a PR.
The projects I worked on – Musicology Session and Matinée Fest– are significant for my development, as well as the development of the music and culture scene in Belgrade.
I’m in the fashion industry since 2007. Today I participate in this industry exclusively through
fashion campaigns, as well as fashion music activities.

Has there been a new project lately?

The new project I joined is the electronic music festival Matinée Fest, which took place this year
for the second time at Kalemegdan fortress. During a pandemic, I spent my time developing my
knowledge in music production. I completed a course in Music Production at SAE institute and I
ventured into the waters of the production and creation of new electronic sound. My plan is to
release my first EP, as well as several singles and remixes in cooperation with various producers
as soon as possible.

What do you like about Belgrade?

Belgrade is a city that deserves those kinds of people that will guard and protect it. It is a
special and still independent city where life takes place on the streets. It is made up of places
adapted to our mentality which makes them very unique.
The charms of Belgrade are hidden in the unique Old Town and the small streets that surround it.
You can still feel the spirit of Yugoslavia. This city has a special way of life – it is essentially
casual and very friendly. Architectural brutalism mixed with the soft soul of the people and their
desire to provide the maximum hospitality to everyone who sets foot in the city.

Where do you like to go out?

In Belgrade, we have many cool places from Cetinjska, Clubs 20/24, Kućica, and Telma. Leila
Record shop
is one of my favorites. I hope that my friend Pepe DJ will reopen my favorite clubs
Mladost, Gajba and Gadost.

Name 3 of your favorite restaurants in the city.

I have more than three. My selection: Istok Restoran, Cveće Zla, Restoran Langouste, Jam, Bistro Mali Pijac, Marinada, Sasa Bar, Enso Restourant, Madera, Sakura, Angry Monk, Emma Pizza.
In recent years, Belgrade has placed emphasis on gastronomy. In some of these places, they
experiment with new flavors and a fusion of tastes. I love when I see that in our city.

Where do you drink coffee?

Manhattan, Užitak, Koffein, Tezga Bar, Bistro Hometown, Silosi , Bloom, Smokvica, Pomodoro
pizzeria in Hilandrska street.

Where do you spend your leisure time?

Lately, I’ve been greatly enjoying nature at my weekend house at Kosmaj. Like in any big city,
life is moving fast and I am trying to find peace in nature.

Name your 3 favorite locations in Belgrade and justify your choice.

My favorites are Kalemegdan, Tasmajdanski Park, and 25 Maj Danube riverfront.
