In our new column Meet a local we present interesting individuals from different professional fields living in Belgrade. The idea is to get to know some locals and their favorite neighborhoods and venues in the city.

Please introduce yourself to our readers:

Already a thirty – five years old, Uroš Ivošević, a wonderer who found himself in cooking. A chef for many years and the chef in the Enso restaurant since the opening.

What are you doing lately?

Besides cooking and thinking about food, I’m an an avid traveler, so whenever I have time, I try to go somewhere, even it is just a few miles outside the city. The whole summer I have been riding my bike, and everyone who knows me will tell you the two of us are inseparable. I am really passionate about cycling. Also, I am a great admirer of black metal (this is quite obvious because of my long hair and my clothes) and I love books, so I am always listening to some good music and reading an interesting book.

What do you like about Belgrade?

The history of Belgrade is what fascinates me the most. The spontaneity of the city and the fact that it is alive 24/7 suites me. It is such a huge city with a small city vibe, and I think that’s the town’s uniqueness.

Where do you like to go out?

I have put going out on ice so to speak. I don’t go clubbing, but a good concert is something that will definitely get my attention wherever it’s held.

Name 3 of your favorite restaurants in the city?

Restaurant Iris is definitely one of my favorites – the quality of the food, original ambient, the crew that knows what they are doing and they are doing it really good. The second one is Jam. Be sure that you will enjoy every taste and every moment, I did.  And definitely the gold medal goes to the restaurant and winery – Chicha. Just beautiful.

Where do you drink coffee?

Whenever I have time to spare, my destination is Greenet cafe. Since I started drinking coffee this is the only option for me.

Where do you spend your leisure time?

I don’t have a lot of leisure time really, but I mostly spend it resting at home, meditating and letting my mind wonder. Quite often it results with a good idea.

Name your 3 favorite locations in Belgrade and justify your choice

“Dom Omladine” – a place that cultivates quality music and concerts, people I highly appreciate and time and events that always make me smile.

Avala mountain – especially when it is sunny and windy, you can see the whole Belgrade but also enjoy the wilderness and nature

Rivers and lakes in and around Belgrade, and so many places on them. Weather I am walking or cycling, I can feel my batteries loading extremely fast.
