Welcome to an Evening of Love with Richard Wagner!

Sunday, May 24 at 7 PM | Hall of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra | Free Admission

Writer and publicist Slava Vlasov, a member of the Wagner
Society in Great Britain and the Union of Writers of Russia,
introduces the Belgrade audience to a distinctive and rarely
performed a segment of the oeuvre of the monumental Romantic-era composer, poet, essayist, and music theorist Richard Wagner
through the musical-narrative concept Liebesnacht.

The musical-narrative program Liebesnacht presents Wagner in a
different light from the one by which wider audiences usually
know him — with love placed at the center of attention. Through a
carefully curated musical program performed by exceptional
artists, the narrator guides the audience through various manifestations of love in Wagner’s music: from intimate and deeply personal reflections, to artistic dedications, and the dramatic
climaxes of his operas.

The first part of the program is dedicated to revealing the composer’s lyrical side, including works connected to one of the most important love figures in his life — the writer Mathilde
Wesendonck.

The second part of the concert presents a premiere program featuring piano transcriptions of the most significant love scenes from Wagner’s operas, including excerpts from Tannhäuser,
Lohengrin, Die Meistersinger von NĂĽrnberg, as well as selections from the Ring Cycle (Die WalkĂĽre and Siegfried).

Three generations of outstanding artists from the Faculty of Music in Belgrade will appear on stage: internationally acclaimed pianist Dr. Maja Rajković, Full Professor of Piano; soprano Ana Gvozdenović, an artist successfully building an international career and currently a doctoral student; and young pianist Matija Mateić, an undergraduate student who has already gained significant concert experience.
