Dorćol is the heart of Belgrade’s coffee culture — a neighborhood where history, everyday life, and modern café culture blend effortlessly. This is a carefully curated selection of the finest coffee places and shops in Dorćol, perfect for anyone looking to experience the city like a local.
Coffee has deep roots here. The first coffee in Belgrade was served in Dorćol centuries ago, during the Ottoman Empire, when the city stood at the edge of East and West. What began with traditional Turkish coffee has evolved into a rich and diverse coffee scene.
Today, Belgrade is often considered one of the most vibrant coffee cities in Europe. Coffee is not just a drink here — it’s a ritual. People gather for long conversations, smoke cigarettes, sip slowly, and sometimes accompany their coffee with a glass of Serbian brandy, rakia.
If you want to understand Belgrade truly, start with coffee.
In this guide, I’ll share my personal selection of the best coffee places in Dorćol — from specialty cafés to hidden local spots you might otherwise miss.
KIOSK
Located in an Art Deco building on historic Čika Ljubina Street in Dorćol, KIOSK is one of those small but iconic spots that perfectly capture Belgrade’s street coffee culture. Operating year-round, this takeaway-style café offers a variety of coffee beverages, with both regular milk and vegetarian-friendly options, as well as fresh juices.
With only outdoor seating and no restroom, the place embraces its street character — people gather around with coffee in hand, creating a lively and authentic atmosphere
Expect a younger crowd, good energy, and mostly electronic music setting the tone. It’s less about comfort and more about the experience — great coffee, a prime location, and that authentic Dorćol buzz.

Kafeterija Studentski Trg
Kafeterija is often seen as Serbia’s answer to Starbucks, but with a more distinct local identity and a strong focus on quality. Among its many locations, this smaller, slightly tucked-away spot near the Faculty of Mathematics (PMF) on the edge of Studentski Trg is a personal favorite.
It’s a self-service café with a wide selection of coffee drinks — from classic cappuccino to cold brew and matcha latte — along with cold-pressed juices, ginger shots, brownies, and cakes.
This location stands out for its relaxed atmosphere and great outdoor setting. It’s the perfect place to catch some sun, enjoy your coffee at a slower pace, and even take your dog along for a walk around the square.

JUNE
June is a newly opened spot in Dorćol, created by a group of Russian expats, and it has quickly become one of the neighborhood’s most talked-about places. With its prime location and refined concept, June works both as a restaurant — offering breakfast and brunch — and as a café where you can enjoy a perfectly made Italian cappuccino.
The interior is minimalist and elegant, creating a calm and stylish atmosphere that makes it easy to spend hours here. It’s currently one of my favorite places for a relaxed afternoon or an early evening coffee.
June is also a great choice for casual meetings, dates, or dining with friends.

Pržionica
Pržionica captures the old Dorćol charm, set in what was once an industrial part of Lower Dorćol. This spot feels like a New York–style coffee shop, blending specialty coffee culture with a raw, urban atmosphere.
Known for its great electronic music and properly brewed coffee, Pržionica attracts a creative and laid-back crowd. Occasionally, you’ll even find people enjoying a glass of whisky alongside their coffee — very Belgrade.
There’s minimal indoor seating, so most people gather outside, sitting along the street, soaking in the neighborhood vibe. It’s all about the experience: coffee, music, and that unmistakable Dorćol street culture.

Sonder
Sonder is a newly opened spot located in Gastrošor, within Luka Beograd on the Danube riverfront. Created by a group of Russian expats, it has quickly become a favorite for those looking for a calm, design-led café experience.
The interior is simple yet effective — clean lines, minimal details, and a relaxed atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in for a while. The menu offers a variety of egg-based breakfast options, along with a strong selection of coffee drinks. If you have a sweet tooth, their cakes are definitely worth trying.
Sonder is also a great place to work on your laptop, with a comfortable setup and a peaceful vibe. The crowd is a mix of international visitors and locals, giving it a slightly cosmopolitan feel.

Between
To round off the list, I’ve selected Between, a small, cozy, newly opened café bar located on Strahinjića Bana. It’s the kind of place that easily shifts from a daytime coffee spot into a relaxed afternoon wine bar.
During the day, it’s perfect for working, sipping coffee, and enjoying a quiet moment. Later on, it transforms into an ideal setting for a glass of wine or prosecco, paired with a fresh croissant.
Whether you’re meeting friends or spending a slow afternoon with someone special, Between offers that intimate Dorćol atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Location: Strahinjića Bana 59 St., 11000 Belgrade
