Pedro Almodóvar’s film “The Room Next Door,” which will open the 30th Anniversary edition of the Author’s Film Festival (FAF), has sparked immense public interest, with tickets for the premiere on November 22 at MTS Hall selling out for record time.

In response to the overwhelming demand, the festival organizers have announced an additional screening of the film on the same day, Friday, November 22, at 10 p.m. in the Grand Hall of MTS Hall.
The Author’s Film Festival, which runs from November 22 to 29, will once again showcase the latest achievements in auteur cinema, including a significant number of award-winning films from prestigious festivals.
“The Room Next Door” is based on the novel What Are You Going Through by Sigrid Nunez. This cinematic masterpiece by Oscar-winning director Pedro Almodóvar explores the rekindled friendship between Ingrid (Oscar-winner Julianne Moore) and Martha (Oscar-winner Tilda Swinton), once close friends whose lives have taken them in different directions. Ingrid, an author of autofiction books, and Martha, a war correspondent, reconnect under extreme, yet strangely tender circumstances—Martha is facing a terminal illness.
The film delves deep into the emotional layers of friendship, showing how Ingrid learns to support Martha through her most difficult moments, coming to terms with mortality. Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore carry the weight of the film, captivating audiences with their extraordinary performances. “The Room Next Door” explores not only the power of presence and compassion but also the art of listening, leaving viewers reflecting on life, death, and the indelible bonds we form.
The Author’s Film Festival is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the MEDIA Sub-program of Creative Europe, and Erste Bank Serbia.
Tickets for the additional screening can be purchased at the MTS Hall box office and online at mtsdvorana.rs.
More information about the festival and this year’s program will be available soon on the festival’s website and social media.
