How Much Strength Is Needed… by internationally acclaimed Serbian artist Tanja Ostojić

The Museum of Contemporary Art Belgrade announces the exhibition How Much Strength Is Needed… by internationally acclaimed Serbian artist Tanja Ostojić, opening on May 20 at the Legacy Gallery of Milica Zorić and Rodoljub Čolaković.

Curated by Miroslav Karić, the exhibition presents a thematic retrospective of one of the most internationally recognized contemporary artists from Serbia, whose work has shaped feminist, performance, and socially engaged art practices over the past three decades.

Through sculpture, performance, installation, video, textile, and participatory works created between 1992 and 2026, the exhibition explores themes of body politics, migration, institutional power, care, solidarity, and women’s lived experiences. Structured around several key works, the exhibition reflects on the materiality of the body and the political dimensions of everyday life, while highlighting Ostojić’s longstanding engagement with politically and socially committed art.

Tanja Ostojić has exhibited internationally at major institutions and events, including the Venice Biennale, and was recently listed by The Guardian among the 25 most important artists of the 21st century.

The exhibition will remain open until September 7, 2026.
