Pete Brook lives and works in Portland (OR) as an independent writer and curator whose main topics are politics and social justice in photography. He writes about photographs made in or about prisons on his website Prison photography.

Seen but not heard consists of photographs by five well known US photographers who took cameras into prisons – Steve Davis, Steve Liss, Ara Oshagan, Joseph Rodriguez, Richard Ross. It is very important that the exhibition also displays photographs by emprisoned children, made with cameras given to them by art teachers and social workers. Many of those photographs are exhibited for the first time…..
