The third iteration of Strange Sounds From Beyond is starting next weekend!

We all know that Amsterdam is great fun, but Strange Sounds From Beyond Festival might just be one of its best kept secrets. The daytime jubilance, taking place on the first weekend of summer remains reserved just to a small bunch of music enthusiasts lucky enough to experience a voyage into different galaxy, whilst sundazing on the “Nordzee” sun.

For decades, “Mokum” (as locals find it) has without doubt been one of the planet’s most open-mined and liberal places. It might be that this exact feature transposes into a unique vibe of the SSFBF’s. One thing is certain, the festival does not accept any kind of musical constraints while performances defy to be put in particular music genres. Focus is on out-of-this-world music, as one might say.

Entering its third edition, while expanding into a two-day venue, this year’s Strange Sounds From Beyond remains centered around local talent. Antal, Young Marco, Orpheu the Wizard, just to name the few of the big shots connected to Amsterdam’s chief music hubs, namely Red Light Radio, Rush Hour and The Rest is Noise.

The rest of the line-up is anything but wearying. Live music plays an important piece of the weekend, with Leroy Burgess and Leta Mbullu, stronger for their bands, along with Dopplereffekt being the giants of the section. In addition, with two familiar moustaches, Hunee and Vladimir Ivkovic, together with the up and coming JASS and Lulu & Mata Hari, Strange Sounds From Beyond 2018 is doubtlessly a promise of a turbulent but compelling journey.
