Ljubomir Šimunić: The Secret Life of Belgrade Suburbs
Films & Photos 1973-2012

Curator: Dejan Sretenović

Films and photographs made between 1973-2012 are presented in the thematic retrospective which offers chosen experimental 8 mm films, Polaroids and black-and-white photographs by Ljubomir Šimunić.  The subject and content is oriented towards erotic. Declared erotomaniac and voyeur, follower of the sexual revolution of the 1960’s, Šimunić is like no other local artist, continually intriguing and provocative, especially stylistically, developing erotic art discourse and bringing it on the borders of  legitimate erotic culture.

Licna-Disciplina

“The secret life of Belgrade Suburbs”  is not just a reference to so-called “Forbidden pleasures” that are taking place daily outside sexuality which exists  within social norms, but  more recent constitution entirely personal, refined aesthetic, erotic world that calls for release of repressed libido and sexual emancipation.
