In this year’s pre-festival program of the European Film Festival Palić, selections titled “Europe 4 Kids,” “Best of Europe,” and “Homage to the Aleksandar Lifka Award Winners” will be presented at Eurocinema in Subotica starting from July 1st. The selection “Cinema on the Square” will take place on July 8th at the Sloboda Square in Subotica, while for the first time, screenings will also be organized at the Beach Bar in Palić on July 12th and 13th.

The “Europe 4 Kids” selection will feature seven children’s animated and live-action films that had their cinema premieres in 2022 and 2023. The films include “My Clumsy Fairy” (Luxembourg, Germany), “Asterix and Obelix – The Middle Kingdom” (France), animated films “The Incredible Morris” (Germany, United Kingdom), “P’Astanjan and the Three Musketeers” (Spain), “Princess Late and the Magical Water Stone” (Belgium), “Fireheart” (France), and “Belle and Sebastian – The New Generation” (France). The screenings for this selection will take place every day at 5 pm from July 1st to 7th.

The “Best of Europe” selection will be shown at Eurocinema at 7 pm and will feature seven European and domestic films that have made an impact in the past year. The lineup includes the French comedy “Alibi.com 2,” the French adventure action film “The Three Musketeers: D’Artagnan,” the domestic biographical drama “Saint Petka – The Cross in the Desert,” the award-winning Spanish-French drama “Beasts,” the Irish-Spanish-French thriller “Detective Marlou,” the thriller “Uncle” produced in Croatia and Serbia, and the French comedy “Masquerade.”

Starting on July 8th, the pre-festival program continues with the Homage program to the Aleksandar Lifka Award winners, which will be screened at Eurocinema at 7 pm. At the city square in Subotica, at 9:30 pm, the “Cinema on the Square” program will feature five films. The lineup for this selection includes the Austrian-German biographical-historical drama “Corset,” the domestic thriller “Vera,” the Hungarian action comedy “The Pure-Hearted Killer,” the Hungarian drama “Tender,” which was shown in the main competition program of last year’s festival, and the Italian-Spanish drama “Alkaras,” which won the Golden Bear for Best Film at the 2022 Berlinale.

For the first time, screenings will be organized at the Beach Bar in Palić, just before the official festival program begins. On July 12th and 13th at 9 pm, the domestic comedy “Munje: Again!” and the Austrian-German-French drama “Rimini,” which was shown in the main competition program of the festival last year, will be screened.

Throughout the pre-festival program and the main part of the event, the audience will be presented with more than 130 films from all over Europe, divided into 15 different selections and program sections. Most of the films will have their Serbian and regional premieres at Palić. In addition to the rich film program, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy numerous dynamic accompanying activities such as concerts, exhibitions, promotions, workshops, and expert lectures.
