The exhibition presents a collection of posters created around the theme of the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Olympics, showcasing works of exceptional artistic, collectible, and historical value.
The display features posters by renowned artists and graphic designers of global acclaim, including Milton Glaser, David Hockney, Victor Vasarely, Yozo Hamaguchi, Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and others. Among them are the multiple award-winning posters by Prof. Ismar Mujezinović, from a series dedicated to Olympic disciplines, recognized as some of the best posters of their kind worldwide. The exhibition also includes iconic posters featuring the beloved mascot Vučko and the Snowflake, the official symbol of the event. A special section of the collection comprises 16 posters from the “Art and Sport” series, featuring works by Andy Warhol, Henry Moore, Michelangelo Pistoletto, James Rosenquist, Jiří Kolář, Mimmo Paladino, Cy Twombly, and others.
The unique expressions and visual explorations by these eminent creators have crafted a valuable legacy of the Olympics, which, in addition to its extraordinary artistic value, upholds the ideas of the Olympic Charter – the ideals of humanity and the connection of people worldwide, regardless of differences.
The exhibition is organized by the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Midcentury Belgrade, and the Museum of Applied Arts.
The exhibition is open until September 23, 2024.
