In this year’s pre-festival program of the European Film Festival Palić, from July 11 to 17, the programs Europe 4 Kids, Best of Europe, and Aleksandar Lifka Award Laureates Homage will be screened at the Eurocinema movie theatre in Subotica.
As part of the Europe 4 Kids section, seven children’s films that premiered in 2022 and 2023 will be screened every day from July 11 to 17 at 5pm at the Eurocinema: the animated films Epic Tails (France), Richard The Stork and the Mystery of the Great Jewel (Belgium, Germany, Norway), Tony, Shelly And The Magic Light (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia), and Miraculous: Ladybug & Cat Noir, The Movie (France) and feature films School Of Magical Animals – Part 2 (Germany), Lassie – A New Adventure (Germany), and The Jungle Bunch 2: World Tour (France).
Likewise, from July 11 to 14 at the Eurocinema, the audience can watch a selection of short animated films from ABIFF – Animation Bucharest International Film Festival, which will be shown just before the movies from the Europe 4 Kids program are screened. These short films are Breaza – The Legend of the Stained Woman (July 11), The Eternal Question (July 12), Legacy (July 13), and Princess Aubergine (July 14).
As part of the Best of Europe program, the audience will have the opportunity to see seven European and domestic productions that marked the previous two years. The following films will be shown from July 11 to 17 at the Eurocinema at 7 pm: Ladj Ly’s drama Les Indésirables; Christian Petzold’s Afire; the best film in the Official Selection at last year’s edition of the European Film Festival Palić, the Cannes 2022 winner – Triangle of Sadness by Ruben Östlund (at 6:30 pm); Xavier Legrand’s drama/thriller The Successor; the documentary film On the Adamant, which won the Golden Bear at last year’s Berlinale; DogMan by the famous director Luc Besson; and Tarek Boudali’s comedy Only 3 Days Left.
The Aleksandar Lifka Award Laureates Homage program will be screened from July 15 to 17 at the Eurocinema, from 9 pm. The film Love and Other Crimes by Stefan Arsenijević will be shown on Monday, July 15. It stars Anica Dobra – this year’s laureate of the Lifka Award in the category of domestic creators. The film Brighton 4th will be shown on Tuesday, July 16. It was directed by Levan Koguashvili, while Phedon Papamichael, this year’s laureate of the Lifka Award in the category of foreign creators, was the director of photography. The work of Ademir Kenović, this year’s regional Lifka Award winner, will be shown through the film Kuduz (1989).
Just before the beginning of the official festival program, on July 18, as part of the Cinema on the Beach program, at Plaža Bar in Palić, starting at 9 pm, the audience will be able to watch the domestic blockbuster The Last Shooter directed by Darko Nikolić and starring Nenad Jezdić.
The 31st edition of the European Film Festival Palić will be held from July 20 to 26, 2024, in Palić and Subotica. At this year’s festival, the audience will have the opportunity to watch more than 140 films in 17 sections, and over a hundred film professionals from the country and abroad, who will be staying in Palić, will participate in the festival program.
