Regis AKA Karl O’Connor hails from the UK where he runs the famous Downwards label with Peter Sutton AKA Female since 1993. With a no remix policy, Karl and Peter run a rather unconventional label with enough spunk to say sod off to industry standards. The label was initially established to release the set of tracks that fellow Birmingham DJ and producer Surgeon had recorded in the small studio that ex-Napalm Death drummer Mick Harris had built in his downstairs toilet. Names like Surgeon, Cut Hands, Samuel Kerridge, but also Eyeless in Gaza and Tropic of Cancer, have released their music on Downwards.
