Surgeon, real name Anthony Child, has been at the forefront of UK techno since 1994.
His debut EP is regarded by many as seminal, launching his career along with several early Downwards releases, causing a ripple of excitement through the techno cognoscenti of the time. Surgeon has been prolific
since, with three albums on Tresor and numerous Counterbalance and Dynamic Tension EPs. “Over the course of his career, the Birmingham resident has perfected a unique and uncommonly effective production
style. His is a tough techno sound with an industrial murk about it but also plenty of funk, swing and a sophisticated sense of dub-space learned in part from his Chain Reaction contemporaries in Berlin. Proving that hard
can also be smart, sensuous and danceable, the influence of Surgeon on the 2010-ruling Ostgut/Berghain sound – DJs/producers like Marcel Dettmann, Shed et al – is substantial”. (Fact Magazine)

Further evidence of these multi-functional production skills can be seen on Surgeon’s impressive remix CV, working with the biggest names in techno (Dave Clarke, Luke Slater/PAS, Green Velvet, Hardfloor, the Black Dog etc), Thom Yorke (Radiohead), Glasgow post-rock outfit Mogwai, old masters Faust and Coil, and most recently, artists such Moderat, Shed, Traversable Wormhole and Scuba. Recently dubbed by Fact magazine as “arguably the finest techno DJ in the world”, Surgeon is also naturally one of the most in-demand, with recent mixes for Warp and Fabric and a schedule spread across Europe, U.S.A and Japan. He has played every key club/event/festival going; helped pioneer Birmingham’s House of God; and, held a 3 year residency at Tresor (Berlin) during its all powerful 1990s peak. He is also one half of the much loved BMB (British Murder Boys) (with Regis of Sandwell District).

Contemporary Surgeon sets are notable for experimentation with new DJ technologies embracing cutting edge hardware and software solutions,
increasingly blurring the line between a DJ set and a live performance. Surgeon is a selector of some skill and one of the most inventive, intuitive users of Ableton out there. Using techno as a vehicle to carry his artistic message, he also mixes up everything from contemporary bass music/dubstep to Rephlex-esque electronica to create a coherent, intense and righteously banging whole.

▀ Coming from Belgrade Serbia, Filip Xavi is one of the authentic representatives of the local techno movement of the past decade. As a rebel against any genre and trend confinements he was always attracted to the more experimental subliminal side of techno music, exploring hypnotic and abstract elements, combining them with relentless 4×4 rhythms and in time developing his own recognizable style. His solo productions were published on labels such as: Subsist, Sonntag Morgen, Dynamic Reflection, Subsequent Rec, Panel Trax.
In spring 2013 he released his first solo EP “Inline Agents” for a renowned Spanish label Subsist Records. The Subsist release got a great reception among the main players on the techno scene. Following was the Sonntag Morgen EP “Symbols and Weapons” wich also took notice.

Predicting the wave of dark onerous techno that was about to hit the clubs in Europe, in 2008 Filip started Teskoba Recordings, conceieved as a platform for the techno sound of the future. Vision of Teskoba Recordings took great reception amongst some of the leading producers on the techno scene and today over four years into its existence, Teskoba hosts over 25 releases with contribution from over 30 international and domestic artists.

Currently Filip is the resident of Drug§tore club – the forefront of the underground scene resurgence in Belgrade. With the Drug§tore crew, Filip organized parties in Belgrade’s techno cathedral with headliners such as: Dasha Rush, Stanislav Tolkachev, Dimi Angelis, Phase, Charlton, Shifted… All this led to him being invited by Dasha Rush to play at the legendary Tresor club in Berlin in August 2014.

▀ A promoter of the underground culture, a DJ and a respected producer – Serbian-born Lag is the on the forefront of the new wave of techno artists.
It is easy to notice from his sound that he did not take the usual route on his musical journey. He grew up on punk, acquired a classical education in music and then quit it all to find himself enchanted by the possibilities of expressing oneself both through DJing and making electronic music. He chose techno to be the host for his creative discharge, while always incorporating a certain dosage of his previous musical life to his current work. Grit, rhythm and attitude are his main tools and he blends them into his music, creating a potent combination which enchants, moves and unifies.

Lag’s DJ performances on the Exit festival’s main DJ stage, and the legendary Tresor club speak volumes of his ability to engage his crowd, and offer an intense sonic experience. Through his DJ sets, as well as through workshops and events he organized and promoted under the umbrella of his organization 29524, Lag put efforts into closing the gap between the “good” and the “known”. Since then his promotional activities have reduced, and his focus moved to delivering extremely functional DJ sets, but also on creating and releasing original music, mostly in the techno genre. After several appearances and releases, predominantly on the Serbian label Teskoba, his remix of Grovskopa’s “Atopic” is released on vinyl by Sect Records. He follows it up with his first full EP named “Stutter”, a highly acclaimed release which came out on the notoriously uncompromising Singularity Recordings.

Lag is set to stay on his current path as his mission, his initial vision, is yet to flicker. His ruthless determination is awe inspiring, and is, along with his musical prowess, the main reason for his rising popularity. Lag is definitely someone to keep an eye on, but more importantly – someone to listen to. After all, as he frequently states, “it’s all about the music”.

▀ Stevie Whisper aka Stefan Unkovic is a DJ, musician, promoter and visual artist from Belgrade. He’s also a member of Mystic Stylez collective, founder of SuperSizeShe label, Glo$$y party series and the resident and graphic designer of Drug§tore.

Depending on the occasion, his selections vary between super-eclectic mixes of different contemporary genres of independent music, and raw, dark, straightforward techno sets.

During the last few years, he played on Exit and Mikser festival, performed alongside with artists such as: Teengirl Fantasy, James Ferraro, Bas Mooy, Munk, Molly Nilsson, and as a promoter cooperated with more than 50 performers from all parts of the globe.
